Subject: Machine Manager-which version of Kmotion?
Within the last hour... I have just installed Kmotion 4.28. I then downloaded and installed the latest version of MachineManager from this link http://sourceforge.net/projects/cnctw/files/latest/download?source=files

Machine Manager is reporting it needs 428x to run. I see from the thread on cnczone that Brad has first stated that it needs 428x, but later in the thread that it needs 428. So the questions are-- which version of Kmotion, and is there any danger to installing 428x, any beta problems I will encounter, and other gotchas I should be aware of?

What is the best way to handle this?

You need 4.28 to run MM.

4.28 was an "out of band" release that had most of what was needed but required manually copying some projects and patches to the KMotion install path.

DynoMotion has simplified this and 4.28 should work with Machine Manager right out of the box(though there are many other updates in this version that are not MM related).

I just updated the install package here and on SourceForge and the previous OpenGL compatability requirements were resolved.

As far as beta issues and gotchas... I'm hoping they are minimal but also expecting people to let me know about them so I can resolve them as quickly as possible.

I meant to say 4.28x was an "out of band"

Where is the edit post feature around here?!!?

So, to clarify, MM is supposed to work with 428, and you have updated the file at the link below to work correctly with 428. Is this correct?

If so, do I install the new MM version over the previous AM version, or should I uninstall the AM version and reinstall the new one?

Hello Grace,

Correct.

If so, do I install the new MM version over the previous AM version, or should I uninstall the AM version and reinstall the new one?

Unfortunately, you will need to uninstall old versions to reinstall new ones.  I am working on the deployment package to work around this but until then… sorry for the hassle.

Answering my own question, yes, I needed to uninstall and reinstall. This has me past the Kmotion version issue.

MM however does not seem to open on my machine. I see the process in task manager, but so far, after a 10 minute or so wait, the GUI still has not appeared.

Looks like this is the same issue as Dave had.

Do you at least get the window border?

Brad- another uninstall/reinstall cycle fixed the visibility problem. So I have it actually opening and running. And I was able to jog my y and z axis. The rest will need some study to figure out what you are trying to do.

Good news Grace,

Documentation is so lacking that it is non-existent at the moment.  I was hoping that a few brave beta testers could help flush out the first round of bugs and while helping them I will accrue a bit of support material to make a manual from.
